Ration Points for Wartime Meals!

I came across this and it made me think of all those folks who had to sacrifice so a "good" war could be fought. It might have been from Gertrude McKinnon or maybee from one of the hundreds of old cook books we have. Truth be told I have so much stuff it is sometimes hard to figure out where it came from.

Place in Electrolux to chill? (Molded Ginger Pear Salad) What the heck is that? Probably what they called a fridge back then:-) Today it is a vacuum cleaner.
And Soy Muffins? Yum.

Vintage Lego Mindstorm

The latest thing I am trying with the kids is a "vintage" lego mindstorms 1.0. I set up a nice little spot where we can use an old Dell Latitude 166mhz pentium running windows 98. The 1.0 version of the mindstorms ran on win 95, and doesn't seem to run correctly on my windows 2k system. It runs great on the Dell. Nathan and Sarah are really getting into it, Nathan has been running the mouse and Sarah has been running the robot. Both are freely offering the other suggestions, welcome or not on what to do. So far they have progressed nicely in the excellent guided tutorials by lego. So far they have gotten to program the RCX (mindstorm controller) to run motors and run bump sensors, and the light sensor. Sarah really wants to make a robot dog, and Nathan wants to make a robot tank.

Really Bad Recording

This is a test to see if I can upload a short sound clip. It is the Thumb Piano Guy twanging. Oh, and of course it doesn't work, it just posts a jpg with a "Movie" icon in the corner that doesn't do a dang thing..

Thumb Piano Guy

I came across a thumb piano I made a while back. The backing is scrap
pine, and the keys are banding steel that I got from the garbage can at work. I sorta tuned it but it's main appeal is the funny off tones it makes, and that it looks like a guy.

Car Hit and Run - The Day After

The car has not been moved since it had been hit yesterday. It stared out parallel to the road and 2 feet in. They have been going very fast. Considering that my car was on a straight open 200' + stretch of road the driver of the hit and run must have been really unattentive. There were no skid marks going into my car so they probably hit it full speed ahead. I am surprised they made it away considering the damage to my car and the distance it jumped. It looks like it was a Ford Truck of some sort. I think it is probably a Ranger.

My Car Has Been Attacked - Hit and Run

Incident occurance 2/4/06 between 30m-6:30pm

I had parked my car on the side of the road and went out. When I came home it looked like this. The fender trim is from the attacking vehicle. My car was thrown forward and off the road 8 feet on the rear. Pieces of the light assembly were thown up to 50' as measured from my front bumper.
